Mental health is physical health. Even if you don’t have cancer, or a broken bone, or some other physical ailment, you have take care of you health. Mental well-being works the same way. Yet too few lawyers treat it that way, which is one of the reasons the field deals with such a high burnout rate.
So what can you do.
First, know that our services are open to anyone. You don’t need a diagnosis, but if you are stressed, or feel life is out of balance, talking about it can help. And chances are someone else has been there too. Indeed, that is the beauty of peer support.
Also, know that it is okay to talk about these things with others. While we might be trained to minimize weaknesses in our cases, needing support isn’t a weakness, and it should never need to be hidden.
